New for 2009.

Bringing skate back to the streets of Whistler the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival is kicking off 2009’s events with an epic day devoted to the sport and art of skateboarding.
 
The Festival opener, Skate & Deploy is a Skate Event that invites the finesse and fanaticism of the skate scene underground for a day of dedicated events and comps, to be followed by the Opening Night Skate of the ART party.
 
Backed by the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival’s powerhouse media and communications team this skate comp and opening party is one not to be missed!

Skate & Deploy
Friday, April 17
12pm - 6pm

Set in the underground parkade of the Festival’s Ground Zero (TELUS Whistler Conference Centre) producers of the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival will transform the lot into a tricked out skate course with all the trimmings.  Live DJs, Exhibitor/Vendor booths and a skate comp will for the first time in Festival history make the parking lot the place to be!

 
Skate of the ART Party
Friday, April 17
8pm - 1am

Where Skate revels in the State of the Art.  The official Festival opening party marks the sweet spot where sport and art meet. Held in the 1000 sq ft State of the ART Gallery where the Festival shows that the basements of the resort world offer as much grit, tension and counterculture aesthetic as the urban street scene, live DJ’s will spin while exhibits from Color Magazine, photography from world renowned skate photographers and deck art from around the world headline this one night only party.
