Stamina. Endurance. Vision. Coffee.
Do you have what it takes?
Film-making becomes an athletic endeavour at Whistler’s annual 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown.

The competition, an integral part of the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival’s line-up, challenges artists to perform feats of speed, endurance and precision, with the call to shoot, edit and produce a 3-5 minute digital film set within a 100km radius of Whistler in the space of 72 hours.

The screening of the 8 finalists is one of the hottest tickets in the house.  Featured films have gone on to win XDance prizes, MTV screenings, and viral web domination.

Followed by the Second Cuts screening, a movie marathon event featuring all the completed 72 hour shorts, the Filmmaker Showdown is a must-do event for indie film-makers.
The competition is open to anyone who loves to make films, amateur or pro, team or solo, and offers prizes worth $15,000, including a camera and $2000 cash.

The 72hr Filmmaker Showdown provides a unique venue for filmmakers of all levels to showcase their talent, either as the legend in film they may have become, or as the aspiring young filmmaker looking for that big break. With the proliferation of inexpensive and user-friendly equipment readily available in the marketplace, participating filmmakers will be on equal ground, with nothing more than vision, talent and innovation separating the results. Kicking off at the start of the Festival, the filmmakers will have 72 hours to shoot, edit and produce a minimum 3 minute and a maximum 5 minute short film.

An esteemed review panel will choose the best films from the anticipated dozens of entries to be shown to the public in Whistler, BC during a gala evening on Tuesday, April 21st as part of the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival.
