State of the ART
CALL for ENTRIES
Over the past 7 years, the Festival’s visual arts showcase has introduced underexposed artists to a host of unlikely art appreciators. Showcasing up to 40 artists and approximately 100 pieces of art, across a wide range of mediums, State of the ART invites visitors to walk through the back of the wardrobe to experience the intimate sub-culture of lifestyle action sports that attract cult devotion and life-long dedication – a culture of people dedicating to freedom of expression and living their art.
Please click on the link at the bottom of this page to download the FULL Call for Entry for 2012.

TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival is all about the riding, the free concerts, the nightlife and for the discerning palate, the art. At State of the Art, all pillars of the WSSF come together to provide a platform for mountain town inspiration.
There are no rules and this is not a paint-inside-the-lines event. Sub-cultures and anti-movements are celebrated and portrayed in gritty and thought-provoking mediums. Invited artists come from far and wide to create a community of urban street and snow ingenuity, and push the boundaries of the State of the Art. There's no entry fee, and you can stroll around the Grand Foyer of the Whistler Conference Centre, immerse yourself in artistic talent, rub shoulders with the who's who of the creative world and even pick up a one-of-a-kind piece for yourself.

We went to the opening night - the collection is great! Some seriously talented artists.
if you're a local artist, how do you get your work in next years show?
We have a juried selection process, so submit a note of interest in December and then the curator will contact you to let you know what is required for the jury selection.
Send communication to info [at] watermarkinc [dot] ca
We're always interested in new artists, and especially like to support local ones!
Is there an age limit?
Nope, young and old are welcome.
How can you get involved in the art part of this.... or is it to late? or do you have to be mildly famous?
I'm afraid you are too late for this year - but there is always next year.
You don't have to be mildly famous, we take pride in supporting up and coming talented artists. So your work will be juried and then artists are selected. Best to get in touch with us in January using the contact page.
