Sacrifice? We don't think so...it's all worth it.

What a gold medallist says, after they win their medal: “All the sacrifice is worth it.”

Sacrifices we have made for sports in which we will never win a medal:

Feet that will never be strappy-shoe-acceptable. (Communications Director : 10 years in ski boots before being able to afford custom liners.)
Fillings in every molar. (10 years as a ski-bum with no health insurance or medical benefits.)

Waistline. (5’4” Client Services Manager: “In a bid to join the party scene, I felt like I could not become one of the crew until I could chug beer like a pro through a funnel. Obviously with this I gained over 15lbs since arriving in Whistler. Worth it though, not going to lie.”)

Bloodshed and bone-breaks. (State of the Art curator: “Knocked myself out catching a front edge on an icy mogul and broke my nose. 7 stitches in my shin from trying to boardslide a down rail. Thought I had broken both legs catching an edge on box.”)

And yes, it was worth it.
