The END Party provides a fitting close for TWSSF 2012 - Jennie Warner

'The End' party that closed Whistler's TELUS World Ski and Snowboarding Festival got off to a thunderous start. The entry queue stretched hundreds of metres through the village and gave the patiently waiting party goers a tantalising taster to what was in store. This 'rave', was held in the Sea To Sky Ballroom at Whistler's conference centre. Ticket sales were capped at 1400 with plenty more punters scrambling for any extras right up until the last minute. With the entire room dedicated to dancing (entry, I.D. check and cloakroom all took place downstairs), it provided a dramatic arena for a night of heavy bass and thumping house music. D.J. Praiz opened the night and got the crowd respectfully psyched for mega D.J. and producer, Felix da Housecat. Amongst this music guru's cracking set, was his own anthem, Silver Screen (Shower Scene), and a stomping re-mix of Depeche Mode's, Reach Out (And Touch Me). State of the art lighting, neon clad go-go dancers and a euphoric atmosphere ensured this was sensory overload at it's very best. D.J. Longwalkshortdock took to the booth, with a slightly more ambient set, until closing at 4am. At 35 dollars for a ticket (possibly a bit pricey for a Whistler party but perfectly reasonable to be entertained by a D.J. super-star), this was definitely a party with a bang. It was a well organised event and an ultimate ending to the season. Next year's party will be one night you surely cannot afford to miss. - Jennie Warner
